„The Slovak mezzo-soprano Jana Kurucová skillfully demonstrates how much lyricism can be infused into a voice, only to follow it with such fiery intensity that it takes your breath away. With her portrayal of Varvara, she delivers the most colorful character interpretation of the evening.“

STATE OPERA HAMBURG
MOZART: COSÌ FAN TUTTE
(DORABELLA)
(Joel, Fritsch, Davis, Nurgeldiyev, Stagg, Mogg, Martirossian)
„The cast had great fun too with their roles, both acting and singing. Jennifer Davis was excellent as Fiordiligi, her voice full-bodied and ringing but very agile at the same time. Jana Kurucová contrasted well in vocal quality, with richly velvety lower register and secure high range. Siobhan Stagg was a delightful Despina, moulding her lyrical coloratura soprano imaginatively for the role of the doctor. Nicholas Mogg (Guglielmo), Dovlet Nurgeldiyev (Ferrando) and Tigran Martirossian (Don Alfonso) are ensemble members at Hamburg State Opera.“

SLOVAK PHILHARMONIC BRATISLAVA
BEL CANTO CONCERT
(Šaturová, Kurucová, Hollý, Štúr)
The highlight of the evening was a duet from the opera Norma by Vincenzo Bellini:
“Kurucová possesses a beautiful, bright timbre that suits the role of Adalgisa perfectly, as it should not be a dark voice. Both soloists sang in harmony, with sensitive phrasing, elegant ritardandi, good intonation, and mutual attentiveness.”

(VARVARA)
(Güttler, Fattier, Hovhannisyan, Surguladze, Vigilius, Rositskiy)
„The Slovak mezzo-soprano Jana Kurucová skillfully demonstrates how much lyricism can be infused into a voice, only to follow it with such fiery intensity that it takes your breath away. With her portrayal of Varvara, she delivers the most colorful character interpretation of the evening.“

"Even more remarkable, however, is Jana Kurucová in the role of Varvara, who enables Katia to experience her forbidden love. The mezzo-soprano masterfully combines a playful lightness with a strong sense of physical freedom."
"Jana Kurucová subtly explores the nuances of the character Varvara, Kabanicha’s adoptive daughter. Lively and bold, Varvara brings a lightness and vocal clarity that contrast with the surrounding gloom. The singer’s bright voice blends harmoniously with Anush Hovhannisyan’s tessitura, creating a vocal balance that enriches the overall performance."
"The mezzo-soprano Jana Kurucová also showcases a beautiful and expressive voice in the role of Varvara, the adoptive daughter."

"Jana Kurucová provides the perfect counterpoint to Kabanicha: with her clear and fruity voice, she immediately embodies the younger sister and her zest for life.“
